Toilet paper happens to be one of our favorite toys. It's soft, there's a lot of it, and (much to the dismay of our VIH) pretty darn tasty. Here are a few of the reasons why toilet paper has such a special place in our hearts:

Our VIH finally decided that she no longer wanted to take us in for nail trims. We are so thrilled about that! We hated, lets us say again HATED going in for nail trims. We'd go into this strange place with all these unusual puppy smells, and some stranger would pick us up and try to soothe us while they clip away pieces of our precious nails. Why humans think our nails need to be kept nice and short we have no idea. They work just fine for us!

Our moment of elation thinking that we were finally in the clear of all nail trims was soon cut short, no pun intended. Our VIH, being the "hands-on" owner that she is, decided that she would take it upon herself to see to it that our nails were paw perfect. Rather than trimming, she bought this strange and unusual device called a dremel. Have you heard of this thing before? Yeah, neither had we. Well, it would make this funny buzzing sound and she would put it up to each of our nails and we'd watch as little powdery flakes came from it. While we aren't too excited about having it done, at least we get a TREAT after it is all finished. You should listen to our VIH rant and rave about how perfectly short our nails are now. If only we had opposable thumbs... then we'd see how much she likes it!!!

Our VIH is sporting a big tummy, and she tells us all the time that a baby is inside. How it's going to manage to get out of there we have no idea:

All we know is that her tummy makes a great resting spot and place to stand on. Our VIH is always trying to keep us from jumping on it, but if you were a Chihuahua, could you resist? It's like a perfect little trampoline!

One Hot Weekend!

These past few days have been soooo hot!!! Yesterday our VIH took us to the dog park to play with other Chihuahuas, and all we could do was pant and sit in the shade. We think she saw how hot we were because thankfully we didn't stay too long. We are very lucky that our home is air conditioned! Even though our native land of Mexico can get pretty warm in the summer months, our tiny bodies can still get pretty toasty! Lately we've just been laying around anywhere that seems less warm, spreading our legs out to let our tummies keep cool. It provides us some relief:

We knew something was up. Our VIH was lying down all the time, complaining about not feeling well and being sick. And then we saw her actually getting sick. What was going on? What has happened to our wonderful pack leader? And then yesterday, she came home. With this picture:

Today we tried something new... a soda, as we have heard our VIH call it. This soda was absolutely terrible! How can you humans drink that stuff!?! Bella And Her Paper

Something interesting you may not know about me: I LOVE PAPER. I love everything about it: the variation of colors and textures it comes in, its chewability, and most importantly, it's shredability. You can give me a piece of paper and I can obliterate it in seconds. About six or seven months ago I single-pawedly shredded my VIH's check ledger. I was pretty proud about how quickly I accomplished this great feat, a whole little booklet of papers turned into nothing but paper bits. In celebration I flung the paper bits all over the house; it was one of the best days of my life! But for some reason my VIH didn't want to share in my victory with me when she got home. Maybe it was because she had to pick up all the little, teeny, tiny pieces of paper I threw around the house? I'm not sure, but ever since I was hooked to what you humans call paper.

We always get new toys and sleep in bed with her at night where it is soft and very warm. We have each other during the day when she is gone, and when she comes home she does her very best to give us lots of attention to make up for it. We always have fresh water and kibble, and a few times a week we even get that kibble mixed with rice or cheese or meat. We know we are very lucky pups, and we love our VIH very much. Why I Love Soft Blankets

Extremely soft and cushy blankets are one of the best things that humans have created. There are only a few things that give me such a fantastic thrill as the sight and feel of that special softness against my short-haired coat. I think my VIH is a little bothered with me though. There is this one particular blanket of hers which I really love... she calls it her bathrobe... and I just cannot get enough of it. It's perfectly soft and warm and reminds me of being a tiny little pup again. Just take a look at the picture of me below:

I know I have a very agreeable personality, and sometimes I do have a hard time standing up for myself. But my brother and sister don't need to take advantage of me, for crying out loud. Here's a perfect example of what I am talking about:

Yes, believe it or not, I am UNDERNEATH my brother Diego. As in, I was deeply sleeping and he just came over and parked himself right on top of me. Oh no, Diego, never mind the fact you are HALF my body weight. Somehow, I will manage to breathe.

Finally, I manage to sneak my head up just enough for me to take in oxygen and expel carbon dioxide. I hate being such a doormat sometimes.

One of the things I love about the fall and winter seasons is the plethora of dried leaves that manage to find their way onto the outside balcony. They make a wonderful crinkle and crunch sound that I cannot get enough of. Usually I try to bring them inside and chew them in the comfort of my doggie bed, but my VIH tells me "No!" and takes it away from me. Why, I am not sure. Well, there were a few times I went overboard on the leaves and spread them all over the house when my VIH was at work, but that's not just my fault... Daisy and Diego were in on it too! So why should I be the one punished, why can't I have all the fun?

Ooooooooh, a nice dried leaf! I will chew on you now!

VIH, I am not doing anything naughty! I am not about to chomp down on that leaf you see in front of me. Oh, not me, I am a good doggie girl!

The AKC National Dog Championships

A few weeks ago we went to check out the AKC National Championships at the Long Beach Convention Center. You could feel the excitement from all the dogs in the air... what a thrill! We'd like to say the best dog won, but come on... we all know the prizes, ribbons, and titles should go to the Chihuahuas.
